Sitting Knitting – Beginner’s Granny Square Crochet Kit is a complete kit to get you crocheting.
The Sitting Knitting pattern included (which also contains links to accompanying videos on YouTube) is intended to get you going on your crocheting journey by demystifying the basics and therefore allowing you to tackle crochet patterns with confidence.
Unfortunately, most crochet instructions and patterns jump straight into helping you to make something rather than explaining the simple mechanics of crochet fabric. From my experience of teaching many, many people to crochet over more than a decade, I’m happy to tell you that by explaining what crochet stitches actually look like and why we work into them the way we do, almost without fail the penny drops very quickly and people then fly!
The pattern contains instructions for crocheting a granny square and a piece of flat fabric.
Like lots of things in life crochet isn’t difficult, it’s just a bit fiddly at the start and with patience and practice you can become a confident crocheter.
The kit uses pure wool yarn, being more robust and therefore easier to work with than synthetics, and a beautifully smooth quality ergonomic hook. Whilst it’s not necessary to spend a fortune on materials, good quality kit makes life much easier for a beginner. Once you are confident, the yarn world will be your oyster!

Best beginner kit out there. Rachel’s videos and explanation of the stitches helped me to get started with the basics. And from there it’s easy peasy and so enjoyable. My 13 year old son has successfully worked through the instructions too!

I have never crocheted (not sure if that’s a word) in my life but have always wanted to do it. The kit has everything you need to complete your project. Everything in the kit is of excellent quality and the wool is lovely to crochet with. The wool is a light colour with is really good and clear to see as you’re working your way through the instructions. There are also step by step videos which can be kept for future reference. The videos are really easy to download and understand. I thought I would really struggle with this but nope, I successfully made a granny square and a piece of fabric. I Cannot recommend this kit enough.
