This is a Sitting Knitting Online Crochet Workshop to learn to crochet.

In the process you will make a simple, stylish and warm crocheted cowl made from West Yorkshire Spinners ColourLab dk yarn.  It is a perfect beginner’s project that will take you from complete novice to having completed your first successful accessory.  Once you’ve mastered the crochet basics it’s a very easy and relaxing make and any slight imperfections will be totally unnoticeable once in wear.

Practice yarn is provided for you to perfect your technique before you get started on your project.  The cowl is worked in the round, from the top down and uses gradual increases to create a snug top to sit neatly against your neck for maximum warmth and a wider bottom to sit on your shoulders.  The stitches are initially worked into the starting chain, before joining in the round and working subsequent rounds by working the trebles between the trebles of the previous round – creating a more dense, warmer fabric which will stand up nicely against your neck rather than flopping round your shoulders.  Don’t worry about the odd missed stitch or increase because once your cowl is worn any tiny imperfections will be totally invisible.

The pattern contains links to short video tutorials covering all the basic crochet techniques needed to make this cowl.

You can choose the colour of yarn you wish to have included in your kit during the ordering process.  The practice yarn and locking stitch markers will be added to the kit.
